Scaling
Scaling occurs when dissolved minerals – like calcium, magnesium, or silica – precipitate from water and form hard, stubborn deposits on the internal surfaces of boilers, heat exchangers, and piping. These mineral layers act like insulation, dramatically reducing heat transfer efficiency, increasing fuel and energy costs, and placing unnecessary strain on equipment.
Left untreated, scaling not only lowers performance – it can cause overheating, blocked flow paths, and even equipment failure.
What causes scaling?
- High mineral content in feedwater
- Elevated temperatures and pressure
- Poor water conditioning and dosing practices
- Ineffective softening or filtration
- Frequent cleaning or monitoring
Our Approach to Scaling Prevention
HydroGreen works with non-chemical and advanced chemical solutions to prevent scaling across various systems. From high-pressure steam cycles to cooling towers and industrial loops.
✅ Merus® Ring Technology (by Pronomar)
A non-chemical solution that uses low-frequency oscillations to alter the behaviour of dissolved minerals in water. Merus® reduces scale adhesion, keeps minerals in suspension longer, and makes deposits softer and easier to remove.
- Installed externally on pipes -no downtime or cutting required
- Continuous performance without chemical dosing
- Suitable for both hot and cold systems, even seawater
✅ Reicon Boiler Water Treatment
Reicon’s comprehensive boiler treatment programmes include pre-treatment, conditioning, and scale prevention solutions. Their ODACON® film-forming amines not only protect against corrosion but also reduce scale formation on metallic surfaces across the entire water-steam cycle.

✅ IW-Expert Technical Assessments
Through in-depth water audits and design reviews, IW-Expert identifies scale-prone areas and recommends system-specific treatment plans. Their independent perspective ensures the solution fits your goals – not a chemical supplier’s inventory.
